Alexia unlocked her door and stepped into her new "home". She was hoping it wouldn't be one of those shabby ones that were too cramped, like you seen on tv, but she smiled to herself to see a nicely lit, good sized room. She set down only two of her many, many bags. She seen two beds, one on the left near the big window, and one on the right near a smaller one. "Hmm.." Alexia had decided. She threw her bags on the bed nearest the big window and gave another smile when she saw that it was closest to the bathroom.
Alexia stepped into the bathroom to inspect if it was up to her standards. Bathrooms were VERY important to Alexia, and was where she spent most of her time perfecting her look. Alexia looked around, nice sized sink, shower seperate from tub, it would do...with some candles and maybe a bath rug, and her personalized soaps, towels, and shampoo and conditioner of course.
She stepped out of the bathroom and inspected her closet. It was a nicely sized walk-in, she looked at the other side of the room and was really pleased to see that, whenever she got a room-mate, she wouldn't have to share closets, heck her closet wasn't even big enough for just her, she'd have to bring in a dresser to in order to hold all her clothes.
Alexia took one last look at her room, she was alright with it and it would have to do...for now. She grabbed her room keys again, and walked out the door to get more of her beautiful bags.

Lydia’s flatfooted metallic Jimmy Choo ballet synch-back shoes made practically no sound as she lightly made her way to her room. She had a rather aired way of walking that only someone with compulsively good posture could possible ever attain. Lydia had been taught from a young age how to present herself to the world, walking mannerisms included, and she took all of her life lessons to heart. A small smile stretched across her pursed lips as she squinted down at the scrawled address numbers in her hand. She was standing outside the door of her room. She had found it. She was home. Lydia did a quick check of her appearance. She smoothed the soft silk Diane von Furstenberg traveling dress underneath her tan Burberry trench. She adjusted her oversized tortoiseshell Oliver People’s glasses so they sat perfectly on the bridge of her nose. She simply could not stand it when her glasses slipped, or worse, sat lopsided across her face. She pulled her Audrey Hepburn style headscarf back on her head so that just the right amount of her straight brown hair was visible. She wanted to make a good first impression. Lydia breathed deeply and calmed herself. She had been liked, respected, and well received back in Manhattan. She didn’t know why she was so worried about meeting this new roommate of hers. She plastered her trademark slight smile to her glossed lips and pushed open the door to Dormitory Number Five. The moment she entered the room she felt a homesick pang for her apartment back home. It wasn’t that the dormitory wasn’t nice, it was, and had surpassed her rather high expectations of lavish cleanliness. Her eyes immediately fell to the girl who was already in her room. Another blonde. Lydia was beginning to feel like a minority in California. “Hello,” she said briskly, “Are you my roommate?”

Alexia had heard the door while she was in the bathroom, and she was actually excited, hoping that she had finally gotten a roommate. She had walked out of the bathroom to see a brown-haired, good firgured girl in front of her. This girl had great style, the type Alexia had seen when her and daddy had gone on a trip to New York.
She had actually purchased some of those same styles, but back home in Iowa, people thought she was insane to wear such things, so she had them packed away. "Yeah...I'm Alexia" She smiled at the girl and walked closer to her with perfect posture, and offered a hand to shake. "I'm happy to have a roomate at last, and I must say, your style is perfectly wonderful" Alexia was telling the truth, and she wanted to make her roomate feel welcome and at home.

Yeah...I'm Alexia
“Well,” Lydia said in her ridged, yet smooth, conditioned voice, “nice too make your acquaintance Alexia. My name is Lydia Dupont.” She accented her last name in French, a flourish that she had been adding since she was much younger. She figured that the last name sound much more exciting, and exotic, with the accent. Plus it gave her the chance to show off her mastery of the French language. She lived through years of painful lessons and horrible tutors, as well as her own degrees of perfectionism. The least she should be allowed to do is spice up her identity.
I'm happy to have a roomate at last,
“Have you not had a roommate in the past?” Lydia asked as her eyes wandered around the room, as if inspecting it for imperfections. “How very lucky.” She hadn’t meant to sound crass, or as if she was at all displeased with Alexia, she was just used to living in her own lavish room by herself, and she had been rather repulsed by the idea of actually sharing a personal living space with someone.
and I must say, your style is perfectly wonderful
Lydia flashed her new roommate a bright, and truly genuine, smile. She had always gone great distances to ensure that her style was impeccable, and she simply adored being complimented on it. It was like getting a good grade at school on a project she had pulled an all-nighter on, lovely recognition on something she had thrown her heart into. “Why thank you,” she said pleasantly, “that is so kind of you.” Her eyes flickered over the girl in front of her. Her style was rather generic, like something one would pick-up at the local mall, but there was nothing outright hideous about it. She seemed neat enough, like she took good care of herself, which was something that she absolutely needed in a roommate. She guessed she approved of the girl—at least she wasn’t paired with a disgusting slob. “So where should I put my things?” she said with what she hoped was a friendly smile. She had just made the conscious decision to try and befriend Alexia, blonde California mall girl.

Alexia smiled back and gestured to the open bed on the other side of the room. "You can have that bed...if it's okay with you I mean. I get up really early so you shouldn't have to wait for me in the bathroom" She looked around the room, now realising how small it would be. Oh well...what could you do, both girls would just have to deal with eachother. "No, back home in Iowa I lived in a huge farmhouse, I didn't have to share a room let alone a bathroom.!" Alexia laughed to herself at the thought of her huge bedroom, and how she had styled it just how she wanted, against her fathers approval.
She looked at the girls things and then at the closet. She had just as many things as Alexia had, it was funny, Alexia didn't even know this girl, and they seemed like total polar opposites, but she thought that she could possibly get along with her. "So, where are you from?" Alexia didn't mean to sound nosy or pushy, she was just trying to make some small talk with her new roomate. She hoped that she hadn't come off as someone who didn't care about upkeep or style, but today Alexia did look a bit shabby, after all she was wearing last years style, but Alexia was moving in today. And her outfit was still presentable, but not the best she could pull off.

Lydia nodded and shot her roommate a hesitant smile. She dearly wanted to get along with the girl she was going to have to live with, but she was afraid that she had already made the wrong impression. Lydia was the kind of person that one either loved, respected, or hated—and she was usually hated for a couple of months before she was loved. She was aware of this tiny glitch in her being, and she was determined to correct the imperfection within herself. “Don’t worry,” she said in regard to the bathroom, “I am impeccably neat.”
No, back home in Iowa I lived in a huge farmhouse, I didn't have to share a room let alone a bathroom!
“Iowa?” she questioned with an unintentional note of foreboding in her voice. She could never imagine living in a state with such a low population density. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself if she couldn’t leave the house whenever she wanted, order take-out at three o’clock in the morning after being hit with a serious wave of the munchies, or zoom anywhere she wanted in a taxi or club car. No, she simply couldn’t deal with living anywhere other than the city, which was one of the reasons she knew that she was going to have so much trouble getting by in California. Maybe this girl, Alexia, could help her get over her addition to Manhattan. “Iowa!” she corrected her tone, “I’ve never met anyone from there before, what’s it like? You live on a farm? That’s incredible. I used to horseback all the time in Woodstock before Laurence and Clark got the house.” Her tone regarding her father and brother was snippety and impersonal. She wasn’t found of either of them.
So, where are you from?
“Manhattan,” she exhaled with a note of passion and a slight hint of sadness. Oh how she wanted to go back home. She missed everything about her city, but she knew she needed to get over it somehow. She unzipped one of her suitcases and revealed a compulsively neat, color coded, expertly folded, case of clothing. She needed to take control of the situation, it was what she did best. It was then that a brilliant idea struck her. “Say Alexia…” she pondered pensively, “are there any rules about throwing functions here?”

Alexia noticed somthing in the tone of Lydia's voice when she said 'Iowa' but she didn't think anything of it, around here nobody knew Iowa, it was just a little under-populated hicky area, which, well...some parts of that statement were true, whilst others, not so much. Alexia was the hottest and best-styled girl back home and everyone knew it, it was like she wasn't even meant to be born there, she belonged somewhere new and free. Which was possibly why Alexia loved to travel so much. Anytime she got the chance she would be off flying here or there, buying the hottest looks and trying everything. Alexia was a huge picture taker, she would snap photos of nearly everything she saw, and was constantly charging her camera. Here in Cali it was a different story, Alexia figured she had PLENTY of time to take pictures and see the area here, after all she'd be here for a while, her parents actually wanted her here until she graduated. It wasn't exactly what she had wished for, but parents were like that, and there wasn't a thing she could do about it here.
"Manhattan..! Wow.! That's so interesting..! I bet it was great there, you are so lucky.!" Alexia couldn't help but have a tone of excitment and joy in her voice, she had always wanted to see Manhattan, but never got the chance before she was shipped out here. She sighed and grinned at her roomate, this wouldn't be so bad she thought, it would be nice to have someone to talk to, and she was orgainized, which made Alexia really happy. She hated slobs, and it drove her absolutely insane.
"You mean like a party..? Well, I think that you have to get it 'approved' by the school if you want one on campus, but you could always have one off. Chloe Rose did after all, she's only a freshman and she thinks she rules the school, isn't that silly?" God, Alexia always found herself talking about Chloe, but at least she was making fun of her, not gushing over her like everyone else around here, exspecially those look-alike wanna be's. It made her laugh, Chloe wasn't even that great, she was just like everyone else, besides that fact that she was snobby enough to automatically take over. Oh well, Alexia wasn't bothered enough by it, right now she was more interested in what Lydia had in mind.

Manhattan..! Wow.! That's so interesting..! I bet it was great there, you are so lucky.!
Lydia smiled at the energetic blonde. She had certainly just scored herself some major brownie points with her. If there was one thing that Lydia loved most (other than complicated systems of organization), it was her city, and the girl’s genuine interest in it was definitely favorable. She might have spoken too soon about her roommate, perhaps she could find a friend in the slightly California-washed girl. It was like buying-to-sell, and falling in love with your fixer-upper—all it really needed was some tender, love, and care, and it was your dream project. “It was amazing,” she said wistfully as her smile curled up her cheeks and her eyes glazed over slightly. She swirled theatrically around the room, “it was my home.”
You mean like a party..? Well, I think that you have to get it 'approved' by the school if you want one on campus, but you could always have one off.
“Yes,” she nodded encouragingly, “exactly like a party.” Her birthday was in September, and it pained her to think that she would have to spend it in California away from all of her friends. She had considered the idea of throwing herself a birthday party down here, making sure to invite individuals who she had assessed from afar and deemed appropriate. Though now that she had actually arrived, she realized that it wasn’t going to be as easy as she thought. Everything there was just so… different. Her kinds of parties wouldn’t appeal to the people there, and the people didn’t appeal to her standards. She needed to start the plan from scratch. “Hmm… I was actually thinking about the beach.” She mused as she turned around excitedly towards Alexia, “What do you think? Would that be suitable?” She raised an expectant brow at her roommate, “You will help me, won’t you? You know this place better than I do.”
Chloe Rose did after all, she's only a freshman and she thinks she rules the school, isn't that silly?
“Never heard of her,” Lydia stated dismissively. She had never read the name Chloe Rose anywhere, and knew that she couldn’t be too important if she hadn’t made whatever California’s equivalent of Page Six was. Though, just to be on the safe side, she decided to make a mental note. She needed to know her competition if she was going to propel herself to the top. It was what she did best, and besides, the place needed some reorganization. “It is silly though,” she pondered, “In my experience, no one person could ever ‘rule’ anything. At least at my old school it wasn’t about being in control, it was about being the crème of the crop, and cream always rises to the top.”

“It was amazing,” “it was my home.”
Alexia loved the way her roomate was so open and smiling about her life back home, she loved to see the human side of all people, and she just showed it. Alexia giggled and watched as she spun. She then turned her attention to her things and unzipped a suitcase full of perfectly folded clothes. She hoped that her roomate wouldn't find it rude if she un-packed whilst talking to her, but she might as well get some work done, she never was one to put things off. "You don't mind, do you?" She gestured to her bag and looked up with a smile. "It's just I have so much to un-pack, but of course we can keep talking.." She took out a pair of whitewashed torn jeans and unfolded them and hung them and her closet carefully, she loved her closet and like the rest of her life, to be orgainized.
“Yes,” “exactly like a party.” "Oh a party..! How wonderful..!" Alexia was instantly excited about the thought of roomate throwing a party, she knew that it would be a great idea, even if Chloe and some of her followers might not feel the same, after all this was like a challenge to see who could throw the bigger bash, and now Alexia was completely intertwined into it.
“Hmm… I was actually thinking about the beach.” “What do you think? Would that be suitable?”
"The beach sounds great..! It's so nice there, I take a lot of walks along it, and you could make it like, a partial day party, partial night, so people could do some swimming and fun in the water before it was dark. If you like that idea I mean, after all you're the one throwing it." Alexia smiled at the other girl and continued to unpack her things, she had only gotten throught one case and cuold tell already that she would need much, much more room than that little closet could offer her. It was sad to Alexia, the room was going to be crowded just with things to hold her and her roomate's clothes, let alone all of their other possesions.
“You will help me, won’t you? You know this place better than I do.”
"I'll do whatever I can, but to tell the truth I'm not so hot at getting around here either." She ran a hand over her hair making sure it was still smooth, then grabbed her suitcase full of bathroom items and went to unpack those, she finished quickly and came out to see the other girl still pondering what she said, so she unpacked her bed sheets and pillows waiting for a reply.

You don't mind, do you?
Lydia raised an inspecting brow at the girl. Was she seriously asking her if it was okay to unpack? She liked the girl’s polite tone, which she had considered a sign of earned respect. She quickly brushed over the girl’s clothing with her eyes. Her sense of style needed a little work, and a boost that only a trip down to Madison Avenue could really be able to give, but there was potential, and it could have been much worse. Lydia decided that a couple of months under her careful guidance and fashion expertise could fix her roommate right up. “Not at all,” she said as she placed her folded materials into expectant draws, “I’ve already started. I simply can’t bare the idea of waiting to unpack. I was already beginning to wrack my nerves just thinking about my clothes all crumpled up.” She shuddered before continuing to unpack. There was certainly going to be a space issue.
Oh a party..! How wonderful..!
“My thoughts exactly,” she said coolly as she flicked her hair over her shoulder. She needed an excuse to meet people, to throw herself out into society. She also needed to set up an environment where she could pick and choose her friends, and what better non-threatening observatory could she set up, than a party? The beach sounds great..! It's so nice there, I take a lot of walks along it, and you could make it like, a partial day party, partial night, so people could do some swimming and fun in the water before it was dark. If you like that idea I mean, after all you're the one throwing it. Lydia nodded as she seriously considered the idea. “Hmm,” she said as she thought out loud, “How about sunset? That way it will still be beautiful for the pre-party, but then people won’t be all gross and covered in sand for the duration of the night? I don’t know about you, but I simply despise being covered in sand.” She shook her head as she imagined the tiny grains covering her legs. She adored the beach, but not when the beach physically stuck to her.
I'll do whatever I can, but to tell the truth I'm not so hot at getting around here either.
“No,” she said slowly, as if she were contradicting Alexia’s statement, “not directionally, socially. You know people’s names, like this Chloe girl you speak of. Maybe you can be in charge of press and invitations?” Lydia asked her roommate earnestly. Although Alexia didn’t know it, Lydia was setting a huge pile of responsibility on her shoulders. Back in Manhattan, Lydia had always chosen to do the press for her events on her own, for she was much too worried of it going haywire to allow it to be entrusted in someone else’s hands. She knew that the perky ‘homegrown’ blonde in front of her had a better chance of getting an audience though, and she needed to fill a guest list.

Alexia kept unpacking her things, making sure each item was smoothed out perfectly before she put it away. She had a lot of things to unpack still ,and it would probobly take quite a while to get it done, but she didn't mind. She watched Lydia unpack her things as well, glad she didn't think Alexia was being rude to her. This girl was so classy, and she was excited to have a great roomate, but she was also nervous that she might not be up to her standards, but then again Alexia was up to everyones, she even thought she seen Chloe take looks at her at the parties they were both at.
"I could probobly do that, I know some people who would tell alot of others, and I know people, as you said. I even took caligraphy classes, so my handwriting would be perfect for that. If you'll let me that is." She smoothed out one of her shirts and looked over at the girl for her reaction. Another thing that back home she was praised for. Her father made her take those writing classes, and back then they were no fun, but now she took alot of pride in it. It was something that she could use in the future her father always said, and it had proved to be so very true. She started on another suitcase after she put anther into her closet. This party would be great, Alexia could just feel it down deep, and she grinned at the thought.
