A sigh escaped the lips of Chloe Rose Summer as she put her hands on her hips. Chloe's palamino mare, Hot Todi, had finally arrived at the stables and she couldn't wait to be reunited with her favorite beast. It seemed like years since she had seen the sweet mare. Todi had always brought comfort to Chloe when she was upset or distraught. Really, the mare was Chloe's rock. More valuable than even her Aston Martin. Now that this horse was here, Chloe couldn't help but be excited.
Her boots clacked against the grey cement as she walked down to where she was told the mare was stalled. Excitement bubbled up in her gut as she called out. "Todi!" A golden head instantly popped out of a stall near her and the middle aged mare whinnied. Chloe almost ran to the mare as she pet her long face. "I missed you hun." She said stroking the mares neck. After a while of silence Chloe slipped her hand into the pocket of her over coat she had thrown over her jeans and tank top. Her hand pulled out a sugar cube, which the mare shook her head impatiently upon seeing.
"You never change do you?" Chloe said laughing and holding her hand flat so that the mare could lip up the sweet. "You know Todi, you could get fat off these." She joked to the mare. Chloe was itching to ride her but she wasn't sure if Todi would be up to it. She had just had a long trailer ride just to get her. She might as well let her rest for a bit.

Lydia rubbed her temples as she wracked her brain for daily options. California, she was in California of all places. She shook her head sadly as she thought about all of the things she was missing back in New York. She was surely missing the annual runs to the Great Lawn, the midnight snacks at E.G. Melons, and the overall experience of being in Manhattan in autumn. She knew she was going to miss the changing of the seasons, the crisp autumn air, looking out her window at the color Central Park treetops, and spiked-apple cider at the Thanksgiving benefits. She sighed. There had once been a time where autumn in the city had meant weekend trips to their house out in Woodstock. Her mind wandered reminiscently to the days when her parents had been together, and she and Clark would wander all around the woods looking for treasure and fawns. That’s when the idea hit. The one good thing about California, the one slight serendipity in a sea of sewage, was that there was a place where she could ride that wasn’t far from school. Her favorite thing to do while at Woodstock was to horseback ride. She kept a small paddock behind her house and she would ride from dawn until dusk. Sometimes she would race Clark around the woods and over various self-made hurtles, but her absolute favorite had been riding around imagining all sorts of dramatic scenarios that she could throw herself into. It was as if she were writing small fairytales, in which she was always the heroine, which she would act out. It had allowed her to escape from herself and become someone else entirely. Sometimes she would be a runaway princess, other times she would be a fairy running from evil sorcerers (the evil characters were always played by various neighborhood hippies that appeared on her travels), but it always ended in her favor. If she needed anything right now, it was an escape. By the time she had arrived at the Equestrian Center it was late in the afternoon. She had dressed herself in the most appropriate riding outfit she could think of—baggy high-rise Diane von Furstenberg shorts, and a Burberry coat, along with a nice pair of Marc Jacobs boots. She looked rather smart, if she did say so herself, and it put her in the mood to ride. She looked around for a stable hand, but all she could see was a blonde girl, around her age, enthusiastically greeting a horse. Desperate to ride, she decided to approach her. “Excuse me,” she asked the girl as she flashed a brisk smile, “do you know where I can get a horse to ride?”

Equestrian was something Briana had always done since she was a little girl, she was a natural. She had a good posture, position, and she had the core strength. Briana took up English riding at the age of six when she was watching one of her cousins. She was soon deeply inspired, wanting to be like her in all ways. She pleasure rode bareback her cousin's Peruvian stallion, Nico, who was the kindest soul she had ever come across. She began to take lessons at a nearby barn, soon learning the basics and all she wanted at her hearts desire. At the age of eight, her mother purchased a gorgeous chestnut gelding, who she quickly fell in love with. His name was Radar, and she loved him more than anything she'd ever loved in her life. She flew him in to America when she immigrated, keeping him at a equestrian center just outside the city.
Brianca slipped on a pair of teal breeches and a pink shirt, tying her long hair up in a ponytail. She slipped on her paddock puts, covering them with black, leather half chaps. She was itching to see Radar, as she hadn't seen him for four days, because she flew him in before she arrived a Castle Hill. She wanted him to settle in before she started working him again, and luckily their was a equestrian center just outside the school. She snuck out of the dormitories, hoping no one would see her. The last thing she needed was being teased. Jumping into her red mustang, driving the short path to the barn.
Bianca wondered around the unfamiliar center, inhaling the familiar sounds of horses. She was dying to see her love, where ever he was. This was officially the biggest barn she'd ever seen in her life. Bianca strolled down the rows of stalls, her boots clacking with each step. All of a sudden, she heard the familiar, heart warming whinny. Twirling around behind her, she caught sight of the chestnut gelding, his dial hanging of the door. Bianca gasped and padded over, enveloping the gelding's dial in a hug. "I missed you sooo much!" She gasped in a whispering voice. Quickly unbolting the door, she stepped inside the stall, swinging her arms around Radar's neck. He was here safe and sound, and most importantly, he was still himself.

“Excuse me,” Chloe turned around, noticing now that she was not alone. Had the girl seen her so enthusiastically greeting her mare? How embarrassing. That was the last thing Chloe needed to happen right now. Maybe this girl wouldn't be snapping pictures and posting this stuff on a gossip web page. Chloe probably would have been though. Especially since this girl looked like she might be competition. Might as well squash them before they got too big after all. Chloe loved competition, but only when she won. She was one of those girls that were sore sports. If she was going to play the game, she was going to win. If she didn't win, she thought it was stupid and never play it again.
“do you know where I can get a horse to ride?” Chloe smiled. This girl may have seen her embrace her mare, but she hadn't said anything. She was starting to like this girl already. "Um, I think you could ask in the office. It's right over there." Chloe said turning and pointing down the long line of stalls to a square form that drifted slightly out in front of the stalls. No one would have noticed it if someone didn't point it out to them. The inside of the office was great though. Chloe had to say, she was quite impressed with this stable. It was worth having her horse sent here.
"I'm not sure if they can really help you much though." Chloe said laughing slightly. "I do know that there are a few random horses here for students to ride though." It was nice not having to ride a new horse though. Chloe loved how comfortable it was to ride Todi. A new horse would just feel too weird, she had grown more than accustomed to Todi's pace and moods. That was just something about Chloe. She hated change more than anything else in this world. Change meant so much. It meant that things wouldn't be the same and as comfortable as before. To Chloe, that was one of the scariest things in the whole world.

Radar began to nip at her pockets, looking for treats. He always knew were to find his food, no matter who was with him. This sent Bianca into a fit of giggles, as he played with the zipper on her sweater. "Radar, stop it!" she exclaimed, good naturedly. The chestnut gelding eyed her eagerly, awaiting for his treat. Bianca reached into the unzipped pocket, pulling out an apple slice and placing it on her palm. Holding her hand out, Radar quickly lipped up the reward, then looking for more. Bianca rolled her eyes and grinned, slipping out the stall. She pulled the lid off of the tack box that sat in front of his stall, pulling out an all rounder saddle. She'd brought a jumping one too, but for now she wanted Radar to get used to the place.
Bianca pulled out a white saddle pad too, taking them both into the Radar's stall. The door lay slightly ajar, from where curious Radar had tried to see what Bianca was doing. Walking back into the huge stall, she clipped a lead line to the gelding's halter and tied him up to one of the bars. This stopped the equine from moving around, which was something he did a lot. She placed the saddle pad atop his withers, setting the saddle on top. Finally she did up the girth and adjusted her stirrups. They'd come loose during the ride to California. Finally she slid a bridle over his dial, making sure the soft bit entered his mouth. After fixing the bridle, she pulled the reins over his head and walked him out of the. She grabbed her riding helmet from the tack box, setting it loosely on her head. Next task; find the arena.
Bianca must of circled the barn three times before she declared to herself she was lost. She'd never seen a barn so big in her life, and she knew it would take a while to get used too. That's when she heard muffled voices from the other side of the barn. Maybe whoever was there, would know where to go. Finally she approached two girls, who seemed to be engaged in a conversation. She padded over, waiting for one of them to finish what she was saying. "Sorry to interrupt, but could you tell me where the arena is? I'm completely lost," Bianca grinned sheepishly at the blond girl, who looked like she was occupied with her own horse. Radar nudged her back impatiently, wanting to go stretch his legs. She turned slightly to the gelding, rubbing his forehead soothingly in circles.

Brooke walked into the barn, breathing in the smell of horse, and hay, which was almost as good as any perfume. Today she wanted to see her horse Urayes and ride him, he needed the exercise. She found her way through the barn, and finally found the stall in which her beautiful black thoroughbred gelding was held.
"Hey boy," she crooned as she opened the stall. Urayed raised his head and whinnied. Brooke pat his nose, and whispered softly to him. "Be right back," she told the horse. She easily found the tack room, and grabbed her brushes, and her tack. Brooke hurried back to her stall, so she could spend more time with her horse.
It didn't take her long to brush and tack Urayes. As she put on his splint boots she heard people talking, but ignored it. She would talk with them after she went riding if they were still there of course. Once Urayes was ready she led him out of his stall and outside to a ring where no one else was riding. Using the fence to boost herself up, she mounted, and began to walk around the ring to warm up. After a few laps she got him into a smooth trot. Bringing Urayes down to a walk, she prepared him to canter. Urayes knew what was coming, and as soon as he got the signal he leaped into a graceful canter.
Brooke did that for about an hour, then walked Urayes. He was done for the day. Although she hadn't done as much stuff as she wanted, it was good enough for today.
