*A picture of Lydia in her OUTFIT*
Lydia smiled at herself in the mirror as she slipped into her olive green shorts. She had been anticipating this day ever since her plane ride over to the fated California school. Her birthday was in September, and it pained her to think that she would have to spend it in California away from all of her friends. There was also the factor of having made incredibly few social acquaintances in her short time there. She had always made social contacts easily, it was something that came natural to her, but she had found it hard actually finding people to get to know. She had only had one class so far, English—one of her favorites although that love was not reciprocated amongst her new piers. No, a party was the perfect excuse to meet people, and to throw herself out into society. She also needed to set up an environment where she could pick and choose her friends, and what better non-threatening observatory could she set up, than a party? If she was going to enter, dominate, and completely reorganize, then she needed a launching point, and this party was her starting-pad. Lydia shot the mirror her cold yet dazzling smile as she placed a large floppy sunhat over her long brown hair. She was dressed in her beach-casual, and she was ready to get going.
Lydia arrived at the spot on the beach that she had chosen for her party three hours before the time that she had specified. She needed to make sure that everything was getting set up correctly, and if it wasn’t, she needed to be there to bark at her workers. It wasn’t that she was cruel or condescending, it was just that she put so much pressure on herself to be perfect, and she needed everything to go smoothly. “No, over more to the right with that,” she said to one of the four hired workmen that were helping her set up the technical side of her party. She was having a rather large fire pit placed of to the side of the main area of her set-up, and she needed it installed with a small music system. Her party needed to entertain, as well as impress.
She used a long table that looked like drift wood for the centerpiece of her party. In the middle of the table was every party’s staple—the alcohol. Lydia had always found beer to be rather cheap, and would rather die than throw a party that would be considered a ‘kegger’. Instead, she placed several bottles of Sky, along with two bottles of Goldschlager, and a bottle of Sailor Jerry’s. She then obsessively ordered a set of Alice in Wonderland shot glasses around the bottles, making sure that their labels were facing outwards. On either end of the table were plates of handmade catered orderves and multicolored napkins.
When Lydia had half an hour to go, she paid the workman and began to tinker around with the music system. She had very specific music tastes, as she preferred to listen to obscure rock bands, and decided to kick her party off with some Vampire Weekend (though she was open to switching the music up once the party got rolling). Lydia looked up at the sky and realized that the sun was almost about to start setting, now all she needed were her guests to arrive, and the party could get started. She had trusted her roommate, Alexia, to spread the word, and she was assuming that she wouldn’t be let down. Lydia walked over to her alcohol set-up and took one quick shot, just for good luck (if not to also help loosen her tightly wound nerves).
