Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit He took the midnight train goin anywhere A chilly breeze blew over Roosevelt Park in Long Beach California. There was a slight fog, thanks to the ocean that resided nearby, and Evan was completely at ease. Two sounds could be heard in the park that morning. The first was the ocean that crashed against the beach and the rocks which was just a stone's throw away from the edge of the park. Secondly was the footfalls of Evan Christianson as he jogged down the lane in his black sweats and red beater. The morning seemed like the better time for Evan to be able to jog in peace, though he really wished that he hadn't left his mp3 player back in his dorm. Evan seemed to function better when he had music around him. His lungs were starting to burn the more and more he ran. Running was something that he enjoyed, even though he wasn't the fastest guy in Castle Hill or anything. There was something soothing about being alone and just running, as if he could get away from it all. Evan was just a simple cowboy in a huge school. Sometimes he just felt like a fish out of water when it came to Castle Hill. When he was jogging though, he was just like everyone else. It was his safe haven, something that would never change even when everything around him did. Now his legs were aching, but he refused to stop. Evan hadn't made it through the park yet, he was only to the baseball diamonds, and he wanted to make it all the way. Otherwise he would beat up on himself know that he could have finished it if he would have been stronger. Evan seemed to beat up on himself a lot about not being strong enough to do things or finish things. Strength and street smarts were the only things that Evan really had and he planned on making them better and more effective. Working hard to get my fill, Everybody wants a thrill

What is done in vain Truth is hard to swallow
Step, step, step, step. The steady beat of Sarah's shoes hitting the pavement was a sort of comforting sound. She was dressed very casually today, just in a pair of swishing sweat pants and an under-armor shirt, her hair pulled up into a ponytail, tucked under a baseball cap, pulled low over her eyes. She barely had any makeup on, just a bit of mascara. Mornings weren't exactly her favorite thing, but it always helped to go out and get some fresh air. It had been evident there was a chill in the air. She never would get used to the fog that always pervaded the morning hours, though.
The Brit still wasn't quite over her jet lag yet, and it made her wake up extremely early in the morning, so that by the time the rest of the world woke up, she'd been awake for three or four hours. The park was one of her favorite places in the morning, it reminded her of the ones back home, only American-ified. She stretched and yawned as she walked about, before pulling her iPod out of her pocket and setting it to shuffle, and started to jog.
This was her Saturday morning ritual, no matter what had occurred the night before. Even if she did party, she always had a stash of hangover pills, so she never worried too much about that. It was her alone time, time to get away. As she neared the diamonds, she noticed there was a boy a ways ahead of her, and from the back was quite fit looking. She took one earbud out of her ear, and sped up her pace until she was only 15 feet or so behind him.
" 'Ello," she said as she came within a few feet. "Mind if I run with you?"
So you pray to God To justify the way you live a lie

Evan heard her coming before he heard her speak. Just a set of shoes pounding against the ground coming closer and closer to him. He kept his pace, knowing that his feet would probably carry him faster if he didn't watch what he was doing. Most of the time he had a tendency to run faster when someone was catching up with him, even if he was super tired. There was just something about getting beat that he didn't like. Evan worked hard for everything in his life and running and working the farm were the few things he actually had going for him.
"'Ello," Evan looked over and almost fell over. The girl running next to him was gorgeous. He couldn't believe that she was even talking to him, let alone that she was actually awake. Most city kids refused to get up in the morning but Evan woke up at 5 am on the dot, almost every single day. It was a habit he had gotten in when he was on the farm and he wasn't exactly willing to change it now.
"Mind if I run with you?" Run? Of course she could run with him. It's not like Evan was going to say no and run off, though it was nice that she asked. Really, it was crazy that she was even wanting to run with him at all. Though he had to admit it did get lonely running alone and it would be nice to have a running buddy to go with him some mornings.
"Sure, if ya want." He said, his accent showing through, smiling at her and then continuing on.
